Here in the DMV area, we’re lucky to be surrounded by charming towns and festive cityscapes that come alive this time of year. One of the best ways to get into the spirit, find unique gifts, and make lasting memories is by visiting a local holiday market. From mulled wine and handcrafted goods to festive music, there’s something for everyone.

WASHINGTON DC MARKETS

DowntownDC Holiday Market (November 21–December 23)

This is a signature DC holiday tradition, transforming F Street into a festive shopping village right in the heart of the city. It’s the perfect stop for city-dwellers looking to soak up the holiday spirit and It’s an easy stop for city residents and the perfect destination for visitors from all over the metro area to make a day of it—check off your holiday list, soak in the festive sights, and grab a great meal. This bustling open-air market features dozens of rotating vendors and artisans, showcasing everything from handcrafted gifts and art to jewelry and home décor. You can enjoy live entertainment, warm beverages, and seasonal treats as you browse.

DC Holiday market at dupont circle (November 14-December 23)

This is the market from the original organizers of the beloved downtown market, now in a new location. Just north of the iconic Dupont Circle park, this market brings its festive décor and premier exhibitors to the neighborhood. It's a fantastic spot to find unique gifts from over 35 local artisans, boutique brands, and small businesses. It also brings back market favorites like Migue's Mini Donuts and The Capital Candy Jar's hot roasted nuts, all in a classic DC setting.

Chanukah Holiday Market (December 2)

Held at the Edlavitch DCJCC, this market is described as "Etsy IRL!" and is a wonderful place to find gifts for everyone on your list. Shop for a wide variety of handmade goods, from holiday cards to jewelry and baked goods, all from independent artists. You can also enjoy hot beverages and support a community food drive.

Christkindlmarkt (December 4-December 7)

Hosted at the Heurich House Museum, this market is inspired by traditional German Christmas markets and is DC's only multi-day holiday market featuring exclusively local makers. Sip on Glühwein (hot mulled wine) as you shop for gifts in the museum's festive Castle Garden. This event is also the museum's largest annual fundraiser, supporting its local maker incubator programs.

VIRGINIA MARKETS

Old Town Alexandria Christmas Market & Holiday Craft Show (December 13)

Set in historic John Carlyle Square, this market is perfect for combining holiday shopping with a charming walk through Old Town's cobblestone streets. Enjoy browsing items from over 110 local creators, listen to festive carolers and a holiday DJ, and even let the kids enjoy an ornament creation station. You might even spot Santa!

Old Town Manassas Christmas Fair & Holiday Craft Show (November 29)

Get into the holiday spirit on the Manassas Museum Lawn with this fun, family-friendly craft show. Discover unique handmade crafts from local artisans, savor festive seasonal treats, and enjoy holiday tunes from a DJ.

Holiday Maker's Market at Port City Brewing (November 29)

What's better than holiday shopping? Holiday shopping with a craft beer in hand! This market is hosted by Alexandria's own Port City Brewing Company. This kid-friendly and pet-friendly event features over 25 vendors, food, music, and an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus!

MARYLAND MARKETS

Maryland Christmas Show (November 21-November 23 AND November 28-November 30)

A can't-miss regional tradition, this massive event at the Frederick Fairgrounds is a shopper's paradise. Be sure to plan for it, as it’s a two-weekend event! The show fills seven heated buildings with more than 250 artisans and merchants. You'll find fine art, pottery, furniture, clothing, and thousands of Christmas ornaments. It’s known as one of the Mid-Atlantic's premier Christmas events for a reason!

Annapolis Holiday Market (December 13 and December 18-December 21)

Head to Maryland's capital for this festive artisan market, which has a new location this year on the front lawn of St. John's College. This charming outdoor market is a great excuse to visit historic Annapolis. Shop for high-quality, juried crafts and enjoy the festive atmosphere near the City Dock.

Silver Spring Christmas Market & Holiday Craft Fair (December 7)

Find the perfect gift at this bustling market located right in Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring. This event features over 80 artisans, crafters, and local small businesses. You'll find a great mix of arts, crafts, jewelry, and gourmet baked goods.
